Eat smart

When you’re traveling, it can be all too easy to laser beam towards the junk food – especially in th airports and while in transit! So if you find yourself veering towards the nearest McDonald’s when your jet lag starts to set in when you land in Italy, you’ll wish you had been prepared with healthier snacks. Before you fly, pack some healthy snacks like dried fruit, nuts and whole grain crackers so you don’t end up noshing on garbage. And when you get to your destination, it’s important to make sure you balance your diet with veggies and whole foods! Of course you’ll want to sample the local specialties and these might not always be the healthiest. Definitely give yourself the chance to enjoy your trip to the fullest. Just make sure that you get a healthy dose of fruits and greens to balance out the carbs that will inevitably make up a bulk of your diet. Eating healthfully will give you more energy and vitamins to keep going. Also, make sure you’re drinking lots of water to stay hydrated. When you feel a lack of energy, often it’s dehydration that’s the culprit.

Join a fitness club

If you’ll be staying somewhere for an extended period of time, it can make sense to join a fitness club to ensure you get your workouts in regularly. Paying for a gym membership can be a good incentive to actually get to the gym and workout! You can compare the costs of fitness clubs in different cities to see where you might like to travel to. You can also compare the prices of bottled water and apples to see which cities have the healthiest options available.

Get active

If you decide not to join a fitness club on your travels, there are still lots of ways that you can stay fit and healthy on the road. Traveling is generally quite active in itself so you probably won’t need to worry about getting in more walking than you are already. But you can add in some fun fit activities like playing Frisbee on the beach or going for a morning jog in the park. Getting active is a great way to explore. You can also go for a bike tour to see the sights more quickly than walking.
